Digital media submission 2

The digital media I choose is to cut out and overlay images. I will use the most important original concept in concept of Aura as a means to present the theme of misinformation. Benjamin mentioned that the Aura represents the original singing and uniqueness of the work. He believes that the arue of digital media is essential for readers to understand the meaning behind the work (Benjamin, 1970). Therefore, I try to use the material as much as possible to recreate it, and integrate it into my own original idea to give it uniqueness that belongs only to me. I hope to show my understanding of the causes of fake news and its harm through this, and make subsequent viewers understand what I want to express even without reading this text.

According to the theory of Allcott et al., the spread of false information through social media has a chance to pose a threat to a democratic society (2019). I try to incorporate this concept into my work. I used different elements to restructuring to make it present completely different attributes from before. I use the joyful children behind the camera to represent the truth. Use cameras to represent media professionals who have different intentions. When the camera is shoot the close-up at the truth, the content presented on it has changed. After being processed by a caring person, the cheerful picture becomes a gloomy prison. Next, I use my mobile phone to represent social media, and the sensational headlines presented on it represent processed “fake news”. Thus, misinformation was born. Since then, the bad effects of misinformation have become clear.
